You and I were created to walk with God, and “only by walking with God can we hope to find the path that leads to life. That is what it means to be a disciple. After all—aren't we 'followers of Christ?' Then by all means, let’s actually follow him. Not ideas about him. Not just principles about him. Him.” (Waking the Dead by John Eldredge) The spiritual habits that Jesus practiced can help us learn how to walk with God intimately. Each habit is performed only as a means to an end – to discover hope, develop faith and demonstrate love through a growing relationship with Jesus, and to help others do the same.

Silence and Solitude
The habits of silence and solitude go hand in hand. People often feel that these practices contribute to their inner peace and help them hear God’s voice more clearly
Fasting
When Christians fast, they go without something for the purpose of spiritual growth. This habit is most often associated with food, but we can also fast from activities like social media or watching television. When we fast, we hope to grow our hunger for God rather than the things we naturally crave.

Sacrifice
The habit of sacrifice reminds us that God is the source of our only true security, peace and joy. When we sacrifice as an act of love for another person, we follow the example that Jesus set for us in his time here on earth.
Bible Study
Reading the Bible teaches us about who God is and who we are in Christ. Filled with stories, poetry and instructions, its books contain wisdom and the very essence and presence of God.

Worship
Worship as a discipline involves acknowledging and proclaiming all that God is, sometimes through music and singing, but also in the way we live our lives. When we worship him with all our heart and mind, our nature becomes more like his.
Prayer
Reading the Bible teaches us about who God is and who we are in Christ. Filled with stories, poetry and instructions, its books contain wisdom and the very essence and presence of God.

Christian Friendship
Life as a follower of Jesus is not a solo endeavor. Intentional relationships with other Christians are a source of joy, help and encouragement along the path of life.
