Follow Jesus

God's word in the Holy Scriptures teaches us that we are image bearers of God. That he loves us and desires a relationship with us. It doesn't matter how good a person we are. As humans, we are separated from God through the mistakes of the first humans and we are reconciled to God by his Son, Jesus. This is not something that we can earn. This is God's gift of unmerited grace to us. Our only response is to gratefully accept it. If we fail to recognize our need for a right relationship with God, we will struggle to make sense of our mistakes, also known as sin. This can cause us to fill the God-shaped hole in our souls with things that leave us feeling broken and hopeless.

Confess your need for God's forgiveness and believe that Jesus is the solution. You can do this with a simple prayer such as, " Jesus, I know that I am not perfect. In the eyes of a Holy God, I miss the mark and I need forgiveness. I believe that you came to this world to give me freedom from condemnation. I believe that you lived, died and rose again so that my relationship with you can be made right. Today, I am putting my trust in you as my Lord and savior. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and use my life as you see fit. Amen."

Giving your life to Jesus is about much more than a ticket to heaven. Following Him means depending on him as your source of life. Following Jesus is the same as being led by the Holy Spirit, who is Jesus in you. The Holy Spirit helps us live a purposeful life here on earth. He allows us to recognize our limitations, surrender our control and commit ourselves to his intentions for our lives. When you choose to depend on Jesus, you will have a constant companion, the Holy Spirit, guiding you throughout the rest of your life.
